DIY - In Home Coffee Enema

11/2/2018

At the request of many of my clients I am providing a guide to coffee enemas, at home! For those who simply want to enhance their health 1X per week is sufficient. For those in need of healing, actively detoxing or fasting as often as two times a day would not be out of the ordinary, especially for those with cancer, any active infections, parasites, biofilm build up, constipation, fatigue and liver detoxification concerns, insomnia or cognitive impairment. Basically any condition that is putting a strain on the body's ability to eliminate toxins or may be caused by accumulated toxicity.

Coffee enemas stimulate the excretions of bile and enhance your body's ability to make glutathione,
a molecule found naturally in your body. Produced by the liver, glutathione is made up of three amino acids: L-cysteine, glycine, and L-glutamate. Glutathione is thought to offer antioxidant effects, as well as stimulate the immune system. Getting your body to produce it's own glutathione is far superior to any form of supplementation!

Okay now for the step by step. First, here's what you'll need!

Organic Low Roast Coffee                Disposable or Non-disposable Enema Kit         Incontinence Pads

Prep the coffee: I like to make it in batches and freeze what I am not going to use right away.
4 heaping tablespoons of coffee in a 4 qt. pot of distilled or RO water
Bring the pot to a boil turn down the heat and simmer for 15 minutes on low.
Allow to cool, strain into 24 oz. Ball freezer jars. Keep what you will use in the frig and freeze the rest.
If you are doing enemas frequently, double the strength, follow the same instruction use only 1/2  a jar, topping it off with more water when you do the enema.

Some folks prefer to take their enemas in the bath tub, I do not. Use a yoga mat or insulite pad and a thick soft blanket to lie down on your bathroom floor. Place on incontinence pad on your mat/blanket. It's nice to have a pillow up against a wall at the top of the mat. Keep a couple of incontinence pads handy, one to put your jar on the floor and an extra one in case you leak and need a fresh pad. After you have taken in the coffee place the nozzle into your empty jar so it doesn't drip all over everything!
  • Warm the 24 oz of coffee solution in a small sauce pan, just to 100 degrees or slightly hot to the touch. Everyone has a different temperature preference. Colonics are done with water at 100 -102 degrees.
  • The trick is to find a good place to hang the enema bag or kit from. Towel bars, door handles are usually the best options. The bag needs to hang high enough to allow the infusion to flow easily. You'll need a "S" hook for the disposable bags to hang from.
  • It's best to take the enema infusion after a normal bowel movement, otherwise you will initiate a bowel movement with the warm coffee and won't be able to retain it. If you are constipated take a warm water enema first to get the stool out. Wait 1/2 hour or so and then do your coffee infusion enema. The goal is to retain the coffee for at least 10-15 minutes.
  • The disposable enema kits are pre-lubed, but you will want to have some coconut oil, shea butter or KY jelly on hand all the same. Of course with the non-disposable you will need the lubrication...be generous!
  • Some people have trouble retaining the full 24 oz. In that case it's okay to take 1/2 the solution, hold and evacuate. Then finish up with the second half. Retention is the goal! The longer you can retain it the more benefit.
It's ideal if you have a place to put your legs up after taking in the coffee. This will aid retention.
  • As you take in the coffee hold one hand on the tubing to keep it in place. Use your other hand to lightly massage the lower left side of your abdomen. Massage up the left side to the splenic flexure just under the left rib cage, move across the abdomen, just below the diaphragm. This will help move the liquid further into the transverse colon.
  • Pay attention to the flow, if you begin to cramp-up a bit stop the flow, massage and breath from the belly. Once the liquid has passed by the gas or stool that is impeding it, the pressure will ease up. If it doesn't just stop then retain and repeat with the remaining coffee.
  • If you are using a non-disposable enema bag, rinse it thoroughly with hot soapy water, clean the nozzle and hang it up to dry out. It's important to clean the hose out from time to time with a thin flexible wire brush. Additionally you should soak the whole bag and tubing with diluted 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide. The rubber bag will not grow mold, but the tubing will. Keep it cleaned out or replace it often.
I know this seems like a lot of work! But, when you get the routine down it's no big deal compared to the boost it gives your immune system. Any questions or comments are welcome!
