DIY - In Home Coffee Enema

11/2/2018

The benefits of coffee enemas is well know in the circles of true naturopathic medicine and holistic healing. Learn more about why coffee is beneficial for improving health, "Benefits of Coffee Infusions"

Coffee enemas stimulate the excretions of bile and enhance your body's ability to make glutathione, a molecule found naturally in your body. Produced by the liver, glutathione is made up of three amino acids: L-cysteine, glycine, and L-glutamate. Glutathione is thought to offer antioxidant effects, as well as stimulate the immune system. Getting your body to produce its own glutathione is far superior to any form of supplementation!

Doing them at home is not complicated, once you get the hang if it. You'll find a weekly coffee enema will support your regular detoxification.
  • For those who simply want to enhance their health 1X per week is sufficient.
  • For those in need of healing, actively detoxing or fasting as often as two times a day would not be out of the ordinary, especially for those with cancer, any active infections, parasites, biofilm build up, constipation, fatigue and liver detoxification concerns, insomnia or cognitive impairment.
Any condition that is putting a strain on the body's ability to eliminate toxins or may be caused by accumulated toxicity will benefit from coffee enemas.

Here is a list of things you'll need.
  • SA Wilson Organic Low Roast Coffee
  • Disposable or Non-disposable Enema Kit
  • Incontinence Pads
  • Storage containers for making larger batches and freezing them. Mason or Ball Freezer Jars are excellent as are BPA Free reusable liquid storage bags

Prep the coffee for a single enema:
  • 1 heaping tablespoons of coffee per 2 cups of water, spring or RO water.
  • Bring the pot to a boil turn down the heat and simmer for 15 minutes on low.
  • Allow to cool, strain into a 2 cup measuring cup
  • Add additional water to make up for any water loss
  • Before doing your enema reheat the coffee to 100 degrees +/- for the best absorption. Do not use the coffee cold.
Prep the coffee for large batches = to 4 / 32 ounce containers:
This method is ideal for anyone doing coffee enemas daily. Making smaller batches divide all amounts by 1/4.
  • Place 1 lb  coffee in a 4 quart pot. Using spring or RO water fill to about 1 inch from the top.
  • Bring the pot to a boil turn down the heat and simmer for 15 minutes on low.
  • Allow to cool, strain into another bowl or pot.
  • Divide the liquid evenly between your 4 quart Ball Freezer jars or quart BPA bags and freeze. The liquid will not fill the jars or bags completely. I prefer the bags for the batch method because they take up much less room in the freezer.
  • When you take a container out to thaw add additional water to reconstitute the liquid to a full quart.
  • The amount used for each enema is 4 ounces of the concentrated coffee, adding enough water to your measuring cup to equal a total of 2 cups of liquid per infusion.

NOTE: The brewed coffee will stay good in the frig for 2 weeks.

Location, location ....where is best to do your enema
Make yourself comfy. Using a camping sleep pad or a doggy bed mat, with a blanket or towel over it.
A narrow bathtub is confining, simply set up on the floor of the bathroom, with a "S" hook on the towel bar or hook above the area I set up.
  • Place on incontinence pad on your mat/blanket. You'll need to be able to sit up at a slight angle, having a pillow up against a wall at the top of the mat improves the experience.
  • Keep a couple of incontinence pads handy,  in case you leak and need a fresh pad.
  • Warm the 2 cups of coffee solution in a small saucepan or microwave, just to slightly warm to the touch.
  • It's best to take the enema infusion after a normal bowel movement, otherwise you will initiate a bowel movement and won't be able to retain it. If you are constipated take a warm water enema first to get the stool out. Wait 1/2 hour or so and then do your coffee infusion enema.
  • The goal is to retain the coffee for at least 10 -15 minutes.
  • Use coconut oil, shea butter or KY jelly or vaseline for lubricating the tip, be generous!
  • Retention is the goal. It's okay to take 1/2 the solution, hold and evacuate. Then finish up with the second half. The longer you can retain it the more benefit.
  • During filling hold onto the tube so it does slip out! Use your other hand to lightly massage the lower left side of your abdomen. Massage up the left side to just under the left rib cage, move across the abdomen, just below the diaphragm. This will help move the liquid further into the colon.
  • If you begin to cramp-up a bit stop the flow, massage and breath from the belly. Once the liquid has passed by the gas or stool that is impeding it, the pressure will ease up. If it doesn't just stop then retain and repeat with the remaining coffee.
  • If you are using a non-disposable enema bag, rinse it thoroughly with hot soapy water, clean the nozzle and hang it up to dry out. It's important to clean the hose out from time to time with a flexible wire brush.  The rubber bag will not grow mold, but the tubing will. Keep it cleaned out or replace it often.

This seems like a lot of work! It is a bot challenging to get it all going at the same time but, when you get the routine down it's no big deal compared to the boost it gives your immune system.

Questions or comments are welcome!

In addition to coffee enemas there are other combinations of herbs and other supports you can use in the enema form. Read the BTH Blog, "Implants and Infusions" to learn more!
