Lymphatic Massage

A properly functioning lymphatic system is crucial to health and immunity. Lymphatic Massage promotes circulation of lymph enhancing the overall function of the lymphatic system, it is a therapeutic modality recommended by MD's specializing in circulatory issues, autoimmune diseases and oncology.

The lymphatic system is comprised of a
network of vessels and fluid located just below your skin. The lymphatic system removes bacteria, virus and other toxins from your body by transporting them to lymph nodes. Lymphocytes and natural killer cells will attempt to destroy the invader before it spreads. As the invaders are destroyed their bio-debris is then transported for disposal to your organs of elimination, skin, kidneys, liver and spleen.

Lymphatic massage is a specialized modality that aids in the circulation of the lymphatic fluids to enhance detoxification, reduce edema and inflammation.
How many treatments are recommended?
That depends on your condition or your medical providers recommendations. Many clients come weekly over a period of weeks or months. Those involved in chemotherapies or detoxifications will find lymphatic drainage very supportive to ease the burden of detoxification.

What can I expect with my first treatment?
You will be filling out a supplemental intake form for this modality. It crucial that you make the practitioner aware of any medical conditions as they must be taken into consideration before therapy begins. The practitioner will perform a standard assessment to determine how to progress with your treatments.

Do I need to remove my clothing?
Yes, the practitioner uses standard massage draping procedures to maintain your privacy. Please make the therapist aware of any body issues you have or if you feel uncomfortable or experience pain at any time during treatments.

Therapeutic Massage

Picture
Therapeutic Massage modality differs from what is commonly known as a relaxation or spa type massage, in that the therapist is trained in specialized techniques from a variety of disciplines.

Examples of therapeutic massage include but are not limited to Upledger craniosacral techniques, myofascial release therapy, reflexology, acupressure, and visceral massage.

The LMT that offers therapeutic massage has expanded their training to include these techniques and is able to employ them "therapeutically" to serve the unique and individual needs of their clients.

Clients working with such a therapist are able to receive added benefits from the development of the therapists more intimate knowledge of the clients needs.

A growing body of research supports the health benefits of massage therapy for conditions such as stress, fibromyalgia, low-back pain and more. Find out how you can benefit from adding massage therapy to your health and wellness routine.
