healthy proportion of proteins, fats and healthy carbohydrates

As a follow up to Seasonal Detoxes you will want to consider the following suggestions:

  • Undertake a short 24 hour fast on juices or water 1 day per week. Or, extend your evening fast on say a Sunday AM by not eating anything but juice or herb teas until say noon'ish.

  • Reduce overall consumption of meat to only 3 - 4 times per week 4 - 6 ounces. Substitute occasional wild caught fish, nuts, seeds and avocados, or hummus, beans or lentils as additional protein sources.

  • Minimize intake of processed dairy foods, such as commercial ice cream, sour cream, cream cheese with added guar gum , tapioca or carrageenan. Also sweetened and artificially flavored dairy creamers. Sheep's or goat milk cheeses, kefir and yogurts are best. Cow's milk cheeses that are raw are great. Cheeses made from nuts and seeds often have many other additives and not a good option. Many vegan suffer gut issues related to these additives.

  • Increase your intake of fresh herbs and spices. Used in a wide variety of dishes these can really spice up your meals adding to a sense of satisfaction and pleasure.

  • Make it a goal to have at least 5-6 servings of fresh  fruits and vegetables daily. Get creative! Preparing a healthy meal doesn't have take a lot of time! Set aside time once a week to pre-prep veggies, cook rice, make a soup or baked veggies you can eat on through the week. GO TO THE STORE! Make the time to have a regular shopping day and plan meals, you'll be happy you did!

  • Reduce caffeine - Over two cups daily is too much. Too much caffeine stresses the body.

  • Minimize fast food and junk food eating! Find alternatives! Follow the 80/20 rule. Hitting 80% whole foods, that great. If you can push % up, even better.

  • Reduce alcohol intake. Especially if you have candida yeast overgrowth. Candida thrives on sugars, alcohol is sugar! High in empty calories it also increases inflammation!

  • Get your daily dose of sun! 20 minutes with as little clothes as possible, stay until you break a slight sweat and don't shower for 4 hours afterward. This promotes the production of vitamin D essential to so many glandular functions.

  • Find exercise options that are fun to do. Frisbee, walking, kayaking, dancing. Try for 20 minutes a day, done consistently it really adds up to a better mood and outlook! Don't force yourself to exercise if you're not up to it!

  • Up you water intake. Water makes the body's chemistry work, chronic dehydration is common! Use herb teas to create refreshing ways to enjoy water more! BUT...Don't over do hydration and run out your electrolytes!

  • Avoid Dogmatic Eating - You may as a philosophy ascribe to a certain way eating, but your cells may not always agree with your dogma! Your body needs at different times of the year varies. If you are eating a healthy well rounded diet predominated by fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, small amounts of concentrated proteins such as meat, eggs fish, low dairy intake you're doing pretty good. • Take the Candida Quiz. If you score high, the Clear Candida 101 Course offers a plan to restore your microbiome balance. Read Candida Yeast - What is it and What do I need to know about it  a good starting point to understand more about this gut imbalance!

  • Many people suffer symptoms related to heavy metal toxicity.  Heavy Metals Health Risks and Detoxification offers more information about this subject.
